Well, we really lucked out. Yesterday was my daughter Taylor's sweet 16 Birthday Party and the weather was fantastic! Here is a picture of most of the kids that were there:
We had such a great time with friends and family, I'm so thankful for everyone that was there:)
Here is a sample I made with a new stamp set I got last week. They even make a coordinating punch for it - I love it when they do that! It also uses some DSP from Modern Medley, which is part of the buy 3 get 1 free DSP sale going through July 31st.
Stamp Sets: Flower Shop, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Basic Black
Card Stock: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP
Accessories: Pansy Punch, Bitty Banners Framelits
Here is just a quick post using one set I've had for a while but just begun using quite a bit. I love that it has lots of accessories with it so its easy to dress up for Christmas or any other event you need it for. I just went for simple here and the card came together pretty easily.
Stamp Set: Happy Hour
Card Stock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Strawberry Slush, Strawberry Slush DSP
Accessories: Stampin' Write Markers in Basic Black and Strawbery Slush, Whisper White Bakers Twine, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
As I have said before, I really love the new In Colors this year. I've played a lot with the Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Coastal Cabana, but yesterday decided to try out the Pistachio Pudding. I've decided that it reminds me of a more updated version of the retired Sage Shadow, which was always a favorite of mine. I paired it up with some Night of Navy and Daffodil Delight and here is the finished project:
Stamp Set: From My Heart
Ink: Black StazOn
Card Stock: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight
Accessories: Window Frames Framelits, Stripes Embossing Folder, 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon in Daffodil Delight, Candy Dots, Stampin' Write Markers
So my husband FINALLY got the air conditioners in! Just in time for the heat wave to end but at least we have gotten some relief the last 2 days. It also allowed for me to spend some time stamping so I actually have some projects to show you! Here is the first one using the Washi Tape as a background. I really love working with the Washi Tape and we will have 2 new sets available in the Holiday Catalog starting in August.
This past Tuesday, the kids and I went blueberry picking with my sister and her girls. The picking was so easy, we picked 10lbs in about 20 minutes. I made a blueberry pie when we got home from a recipe I found on Pinterest. It tasted delicious but the middle was more like blueberry soup! I'll have to try a different recipe next time. Thursday night Taylor made blueberry muffins with my recipe that I've been making for years. It was her first go at them and they turned out fantastic.
Best Blueberry Muffins
1/2 cup room temp butter
2 large eggs
1 teas vanilla
2 teas baking powder
2 cups flour
2 1/2 cups blueberries, mash 1/2 cup with a fork
1 cup plus 1 tbls sugar
1/4 teas salt
1/2 cup milk
1/4 teas ground nutmeg
Mix tbls sugar & nutmeg together and set aside. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Line 12 muffin tim cups with foil baking cups.
In a medium sized bowl, beat butter until creamy. Beat in sugar until mixture is pale & fluffy. Beat in 1 egg at a time, then the vanilla, baking powder & salt and mix well. Mix the mashed berries into the batter. Fold in half of the flour with a spatula, then half of the milk and stir. Add the remaining flour & milk, fold in blueberries and stir.
Scoops batter into muffin cups. Sprinkle each with nutmeg & sugar mixture. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let muffins cool at least 30 minutes before removing from pn.
Are you all enjoying this heat?? I'm definitely not a summer person and this heat makes working in my stamp area almost impossible. My daughter Taylor however braved the stuffiness to create this card for my mom who has been having severe back and disc problems. I think she did a fantastic job all on her own!
